diary: day 9 the plan: Only 69 miles today! A gentle day of spectacular scenery as we cycle out of Oban to Connell, along Loch Etive and following the coast road up to North Ballachulish and then along Loch Linnhe to Fort William. From Fort William a few 'undulations' as we hopefully get a good view of Ben Nevis, and then on to our accommodation at Invergarry. the reality: We took things easy today - late start, gentle pace cycling and longish stops to enable bodies to (attempt to) recover before tomorrow, which will be our longest cycling day yet. Another day of beautiful scenery as we made our way up to Fort William and then on to Invergarry - shame about the inconsiderate drivers on the A82. The weather was pretty good for us, but not good enough that we could see the top of Ben Nevis! We're staying a great hostel tonight - Invergarry Lodge - and despite some rain now coming down, the BBQ is lit and spirits are high. Distance
travelled: 69 miles (cumulative 795 miles) Punctures: 1 Aching body parts: 7 knees, 1 ankle, 2 achilles, 7 bottoms, 6 hands - and Martin has a broken finger nail Leader's Bill Oddie moment of the day: a rare siting of a brown pine martin scurrying into the undergrowth, which wouldn't have been witnessed without puncture at lunch and having to catch the rest of the group up Deputy's moment of the day: attempting radio contact with Dastardly whilst Dastardly temporarily incapacitated in restaurant toilet Quote of the day: Jim - "Do the laugh Muttley" Lucy of the day: removing her knickers at the Commando Monument as a mark of respect (quite a feat as she wasn't actually wearing any) And
